Anthropological Survey Of The Practice Of Miao Medicine In XiangXi District In The Process Of Modernization

In the process of the modernization, people deepen the cognition and generate the different view about how to develop the modernization. The fundamental problem is that whether the modernization development used the development of the west in modern times as the sole criterion or bases on the different circumstance of local society to keep the diversified development. This article tries to show the practice of Miao medicine under the modernization from the micro social observation and hopes to benefits us to understand the modernization process.This article showed the practice of the practitioner working on the ethnic medicine in daily life in the modernization context focusing on Miao doctor of XiangXi. Firstly, the article totally presented the traditional modality of Miao medicine from the perspective of the knowledge system, the community status and the inheritance of Miao doctor and the change of the Miao medicine by describing the daily practice of Miao doctor in modern society. But, the change of Miao medicine was not unilinear evolution, So, the article divided the Miao doctor into three aspect:out of medicine filed,participating in medicine filed and participating market field by the Filed—Habitus Theory of Bourdieu. The Miao doctor in different situation mastered different field rules and adopt different action strategy. Thus, it reflected the uncertainty and the diversity of Miao doctors practice. Miao doctor was not passively adaption, but positively engaged in the construction on the theory(the name from herbal doctor to Miao doctor) and the practice(explaining the herb anew) and influenced the field rules, although the evolution process was weak and slow. We were able to discuss its possibility about the development of Miao medicine in modern society by the description on Miao medicine.
