The Survey Of Internal Limiting Membrane Transplantation On Treating Idiopathic Macular Hole

Objective To observe the postoperative closure rate and visual function in patients of idiopathic macular hole(IMH) with the preoperative HFF(Hole Form Factor)<0.6, and evaluate the treatment effect of limiting membrane transplantationMethods Forty eyes with idiopathic macular hole underwent pars plana vitrectomy combined with surgical removal of the internal limiting membrane,gas/fluid exchange and 14% C3F8 intraocular tamponade. The patients were randomly divided into two groups.Group A 20 eyes in non ILM transplantation group, group B 20 patients in ILM transplantation group who underwent the tamponade of internal limiting membrane into the hole.Results The 3rd months after surgery, the postoperative closure rate of Group A is 70%, compared with 100% of Group B (χ2=7.059, p<0.05);the BCVA(tA=4.017, tB=4.430, p<0.05) of the two groups were improved significantly,but the vision improved significantly between the two groups have obvious statistical difference (chi-square= 4.912, p< 0.05);IS/OS junction defect (tA=6.368, tB=6.635, p<0.05) were decreased significantly, and the difference (t=2.261,p<0.05) between two groups is obvious; The amplitudes (tA1=2.833,tB1=4.235,tA2=2.459,tB2=4.270,P<0.05) of mfERGs from areas 1,2, and 3 were increased significantly;Between the two groups/the mfERG amplitudes (t=1.800,p>0.05) in area 1 has no clear defference,to the contrary with the mfERG amplitudes (t=2.282,P<0.05) in area 2.Conclusion 1.Internal limiting membrane transplantation can improve the postoperative closure rate of idiopathic macular hole with HFF< 0.6,and it is a safe and effective operation method.2.Internal limiting membrane transplantation in a certain extent, can promote the recovery of visual function after surgery for idiopathic macular hole.
