Objective:To investigate the short-term efficacy and long-term prognosis of hypothermal plasma radio frequency ablation for glottic laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (GLSCC) of early stage.Methods:51 cases of patients with GLSCC of early stage (Istage and II stage) in our hospital from August 2006 to August 2010 were selected and divided into experimental group (n=28) and control group (n=23) according to the surgical method. The experimental group was treated with hypothermal plasma radio frequency ablation, while the control group was treated with conventional partial laryngectomy. Both of the 2 groups were followed up for 5 years. Blood loss during surgery, operation time, days of hospitalization after surgery, swallowing function, complications, postoperative five year recurrence rate, cervical lymph node metastatic rate, distant metastasis rate and survival rate of both groups were evaluated. Results:For the experimental group, blood loss during surgery was less than that of control group (P<0.05).Operation time, days of hospitalization after surgery were shorter(P<0.05).However, swallowing function recovery grade, the incidence of postoperative complications, five-year recurrence rate, cervical lymph node metastasis rate, distant metastasis rate and survival rate were similar (P>0.05).Conclusion:Hypothermal plasma radio frequency ablation was effective and safe in treating GLSCC.It should be recommended for further clinical application. |
