The health situation and protection of nurses have aroused growing concern of the community. Current research on nursing health problems focused on mental and physical health of nurses. World Health Organization noted that health and life expectancy is largely(60%) depends on individual behavior and its lifestyle habits. Therefore, the analysis of nurse’s health-related behaviors could become another perspective to study nurses’ health problems. Health-related behaviors can be divided into health-promoting behaviors and harm behaviors. The investigation of nurses’ health-related behaviors could understand comprehensively the behavior habits and the lifestyles which could affect the health of these special populations. Then, interventions can be targeted and improved.Objective: We invested and analyzed the health behavior of nurses, in order to understand the situation of nurses’ health-related behaviors. And then, we proposed a few related recommendations.Materials and Methods: This paper used the questionnaire survey. There were 1305 nurses, as a sample, from 35 departments who joined in this survey of the health-related behaviors in a Shanghai tertiary hospital. This questionnaire included the general survey, the health promotion survey and the assessment of harm behaviors for health lifestyle. We collected all medical information of all nurses in a health examination center in 2015, items included height, weight, blood pressure, liver function, renal function, blood sugar, blood lipids, etc., using Excel software to establis h a database, SPSS19.0 was used for data analysis including descriptive statistics, chi-square test and correlation analysis, to investigate the status of nurses’ health-related behaviors and the related factors.Results: 1. 1305 questionnaires were sent to 1305 nurses in the survey, and 1295 questionnaires were effective, the effective rate is 99.23%. 1305 nurses including 35 males, 1260 females; age range: 19 to 55 years old. 2. Physical examination: body mass index(BMI) abnormal rate is 17.55%, 8.20% of abnormal blood pressure, index to lipid the abnormality rate of lipid is highest in liver function, function, blood lipids, blood glucose, alpha-fetoprotein and carcinoembryonic antigen kidney, the rate is 16.63%. 3. The health-promoting lifestyle: total score of nurses’ health-promoting lifestyle Scale with an average of 74.14 ± 9.55 points. The rank of the five items of Scale is from high score to low score, including the occupational safety, the diet balance, interpersonal development, self-achievement and sport. The score of different gender, age, title, work experience, departments, marital status in health-promoting lifestyle scale was statistically significant(p<0.05). 4. The harmful behaviors of health: in smoking, drinking, thought of suicide, have been suicide, weight control by diet, taking contraband, lack of physical exercise, running red lights, no seat belt, lack of physical exercise has the highest rate reach up to 74.05%, there was significant difference between the rate of different gender, age, education and title(p <0.05).Conclusion: The nurse’s health-related behaviors are not optimistic, and its health-related behaviors in particular sports exercise needs to be improved. Health education should be strengthen among nurses, in health harmful behaviors such as lack of physical exercise, weight control by diet, do not use seat belts and other aspects need to be actively corrected, promote healthy lifestyle behaviors.
