Objective: To investigate the relationship between ankle-brachial index and lower extremity arterial disease in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and to explore the influencing factors of ABI prevent the occurrence of diabetic foot. Methods: Obtained and analysised 390 clinical cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in hospital, from January 2015 to June 2015. According to ankle-brachial index(ABI), divided into 3 groups, Normal ABI group: 0.9≤ABI<1.3, Low ABI group: ABI<0.9, High ABI group: ABI≥1.3; According to whether had LEAD divided into two groups, LEAD group: ABI<0.9, Non LEAD group: 0.9≤ABI<1.3; According to age divided into 3 groups, Non elderly group: age<60 years, Elderly group: 60 years≤age<70years, High age≥70 years. Record the basic informations of patients, collect blood biochemical indicators, and record the occurrence of complications. Results: There are 64 cases of 390 cases with abnormal ABI, including low ABI(ABI<0.9) 54 cases(13.85%), high ABI(ABI=1.3) 7 cases(1.79%); Age, duration of diabetes, fibrinogen, smoking were the risk factors of ABI(P < 0.05) and diabetic retinopathy were the independent risk factors of ABI(P<0.05). Lower extremity arterial disease’s risk factors were age, diabetes duration, Fib, TC, LDL-C≥2.6mmol/L, smoking, DR(P< 0.05). Conclusion: 1. In type 2 diabetic mellitus patients, the abnormal rate of ABI is more than 10%. Suggested diabetic patients have ABI examination per year and screen lower extremity complications, prevent the occurrence of diabetic foot. 2.To reduce smoking, to controll blood pressure and blood glucose can slow down the lower extremity arterial disease.
