Objective: To study the relationship between Triglyceride/High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(TG/HDL-C)ratio level in serum and insulin resistance(IR)in newly diagnosed Type2 Diabetes Mellitus(T2DM).Methods: Parameters, such as fast insulin(FINS),fast blood glucose(FPG),TG,HDL-C,low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C),were measured in201 patients with newly diagnosed T2 DM.TG/HDL-C ratio was calculated. The patients were divided into several groups according to serum TG/HDL-C ratio. Results: TG/HDL-C ratio of newly diagnosed T2 DM group(4.68±11.29)was obviously higher than that of normal control group(1.37±0.97),and the difference between them was notably significant(p<0.05).Homostasis model assessment(HOMA-IR)(4.50±11.04)of the group whose TG/HDL-C ratio was increased was obviously higher than that(1.40±0.10)of the group with normal TG/HDL-C ratio, and the difference between them was notably significant(p<0.05).Conclusion There is a compact correlation between TG/HDL-C ratio and insulin resistance in newly diagnosed T2 DM.
