Chemical Constituents From Schisandra Henryi Clarke. Var. Henryi

The stem of Schisandra henryi Clarke. var. henryi(also known as Zi Jin Xue Teng) is used as a folk medicine for the treatments of blood circulation, dispel rheumatism, ataralgesia, vomiting and bleeding, and it can also nourish the blood and promote blood circulation, strength tendons and bones. For further investigation and better ultilization of the genus Schisandraceae, chemical constituents of the Schisandra henryi Clarke. var. were studied. Powdered stems of Schisandra henryi Clarke. var. were extracted with ethenol, followed by extraction of petroleum ester and ethyl ester fraction, yielding the ethyl ester fraction(EA Frac.). EA Frac. was further separated by column chromatography(CC), including silica gel, MCI gel, ODS-A, Toyopearl HW-40 C, Toyopearl HW-40 F, Sephadex LH-20, high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) and preparative thin layer chromatography(PTLC). 19 compounds, including sesquiterpenoids and lignans, had been isolated and characterized, among which are three new compounds, namely, compound 1(5S,8R,9R,10R)-5-isopropyl-2,8-dimethylbicyclo [4.4.0]dec-1-en-8-ol, compound 2( 5S,8S,9R,10R)-5-isopropyl-2,8-dimethylbicyclo[4.4.0] dec-1-en-8-ol-2-carboxylic acid and compound 3((5S,8S,9R,10R)-5-isopropyl-2,8-dimethylbicyclo[4.4.0]dec-1-en-8-ol).
