The Effect Of Bipolar Coagulation With Scalpel In Breast Cancer Surgery

BackgroundBreast cancer is a common cancer in women, and the disease incidence increases year by year. The basic idea of standard treatment for breast cancer programs is consistent in guidelines that surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy after surgery or neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery. Currently the operation using of electric knife is conducive to hemostasis, keeping the surgical field clear. However, when using the electric knife damage caused by thermal damage will also take adverse effects on tissue recovery.ObjectiveIn this study, we observed the effect of bipolar coagulation used in the breast cancer surgery in terms of postoperative drainage, and aimed to investigate the feasibility of bipolar coagulation used in breast cancer surgery.MethodsWe collected 140 cases of patient data with breast surgery in our hospital from April 2015 to November 2015, bipolar coagulation group of 72 cases, and electric knife group of 68 patients. Comparison of the two groups data in terms of postoperative drainage, extubation time, blood loss, operative time, and the incidence of seroma. Collected data was analyzed by SPSS 20.0 statistical software processing.ResultThe postoperative drainage difference between groups was statistically significant, (46.58±5.05) ml in bipolar coagulation group vs. (90.17±9.15) ml in electric knife group,t=4.233, P< 0.001. The extubation time difference between groups was not statistically significant, (2.7±0.1) days in bipolar coagulation group vs. (4.1±0.2) days in electric knife group, t=6.383, P=0.549.ConclusionCompared to electric knife, bipolar coagulation with scalpel can reduce postoperative drainage and extubation time in breast cancer surgery.
