Objective To explore the diagnostic value of CT multiplanar reconstruction and virtual endoscopy in Pediatric Adenoidal Hypertrophy.Method A total of 40 children aged 3-14 years were diagnosed with Pediatric Adenoidal Hypertrophy.A total of 40 children aged 3-14 years were diagnosed with Pediatric Adenoidal Hypertrophy.20 cases were examed by nasal endoscope and scanned by nasopharyngeal CT with image consteuction of virtual endoscopy,20 cases were examed by nasal endoscope and nasopharyngeal lateral X-ray.Two groups measured the maximun thickness of adenoid diameter of nasopharyngeal air space ratio(A/N), then compared with the indexing of adenoid hypertrophy undered nasal endoscop.Results CT multiplanar reconstructional images display showed the degree of adenoid hypertrophy and the relationship with the adjacent anatomic structures more clear. Among the 20 cases of CT scanned,4 cases with A/N<0.6,10 cases with 0.6<A/N<0.7,6 cases with A/N>0.7.Hypertrophied adenoid occupied the choanae by virtual endoscopic visible, I degree of obstruction in 1 case,II degree of obstruction in 3 cases,III degree of obstruction in 6 cases,IV degree of obstruction in 10 cases.These results were consistent with those by nasal endoscope.But among the patients of X-ray scanned,3 cases with A/N<0.6,5 cases with 0.6<A/N<0.7,12 cases with A/N>0.7, compared with the results of nasal endoscope were differences.Conclusions CT multiplanar reconstruction and virtual endoscopy prove more accurately and comprehensively measurement data. CT multiplanar reconstruction and virtual endoscopy have promising diagnostic value over lateral X-ray in Pediatric Adenoidal Hypertrophy.
