| Professor Enxiang Chao is an outstanding medical scientist in China. Professor Chao began to engage in medical work since 50 years ago, and kept learning Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from clinical practice and eventually formed his own ideological system. So, it is a very important task to research and inherit Chao’s academic thought system.l.The origins of academic thoughtThe forming of Chao’academic thought is mainly owing to his long-term hard learning classic TCM monographs and clinical practices. When Chao was young, he has been in Beijing university of Chinese Medicine to study TCM and got a lot of help from Duzhou Liu, Zhaiyu Zhu, Jianhua Dong, Yingqiu Ren, Yaozhong Fang, Meizhong Yue, et al. With the development of Western medicine in China, Chao was cognizant of the importance and necessity of the coupling and integration of TCM and Western medicine in China and built a chain model to link the Eastern and Western medicine. By studying "Nei Jing", "Treatise on Febrile Diseases", "Golden Chamber" and other classics TCM monographs, Chao had a better understanding of TCM. Then, through a lot of clinical practices, Chao finally formed a unique academic thinking.2.Overview of the academic thought of ChaoThrough over year’s clinical practice and professional TCM training, Chao is striving to build a unique academic system to diagnosis and treat many kinds of pulmonary diseases.2.1 A guide on fundamental theory of MedicineTeacher Chao’s academic thought is based on traditional Chinese medicine theory and clinical practice guidelines, and therefore all of its academic and research Consideration is developed under the guidance of the whole concept of traditional Chinese medicine and diagnosis.Chao believes that the whole concept of traditional Chinese medicine,originated from the old "Nei Jing" is an academic consideration worth respected. It regards the human body and the nature, organs, inner quality and surface look, righteousness and evil, dispelling evil and righting the like as a unified whole relevant,which advocates the local and global unity.
