| This thesis paper holds the two of most influential medical books named Four Volumes of Tibetan Medicine and The Essence of Sweet Dew in Tibetan Medicine as the targeted research object in terms of theoretical views expressed and background history in which these came into being, theoretical formation, important ideas and views explained throughout these two books. This paper mainly consists of its preface, subsequent five chapters devoted to various researches that make up the crucial part of this paper, and conclusion part. The first chapter is about contrasting the different contexts in which these two books were written. In the second chapter, a systematically comparative research is conducted on why these two books were named so, what different writing methodologies were applied respectively and what is unique about the methodologies. Additionally, more research is done on the pathology, the effectiveness and taste of medicines, treatments, pulse-taking, Urianalysis, medicines in clinical use according to what’s in The Essence of Sweet Dew in Tibetan Medicine. The third chapter is a about various aspects of pharmaceuticals such as decoction, powder, pills, ointment, and the dosage and preparation. The fourth chapter mainly discusses a variety of treatments such as forced vomiting, intestines washing, diarrhea, nasogatric gavage, and purging pulse with regard to the treatment of diarrhoea. In the final chapter, this paper mainly make attempts at comparing two different systematic ways of treatment like bloodletting, Fire moxibustion, medicated bath, Yan ironing, inunction, and puncture. The final chapter is the conclusion part. In general, this paper presents its views by comparing what’s different in these two books Four Volumes of Tibetan Medicine and The Essence of Sweet Dew in Tibetan Medicine. |
