Objective: By comparing the effect of midazolam and propofol on ECoG, exploring the option of sedating narcotics in the induction of anesthesia in patients with secondary epilepsy. Methods: 180 patients were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 60 cases in each group. Each group had different anesthesia medication in the induction of aneathesia.Group A(midazolam,0.2mg/kg), group B(propofol2 mg/kg), group C(midazolam 0.05 mg/kg+ propofol 1 mg/kg).1%sevoflurane and propofol intravenous infusion was adapted to maintain anesthesia. The first ECoG(ECoG 1)was done before the lesion resection, the second ECoG(ECoG 2)was done after the lesion resection. Analysising and comparing the incidence rate of burst suppression(BS)in patients between the three groups in ECoG 1 and ECoG 2. According to the discrepancy of the time, four periods a、b、c、d was divided, analysising theBS rates in patients in different periods. Results: 1. In ECoG 1,the BS rate in group A68.3%(41/60) was higher than that in group B25.0%(15/60) and group C28.3 %(17/60). 2.When the time of ECoG 1was in a and b,The difference of the BS rate in three groups was the same as the result. When the time was in c or d, the BS rate showed no statistical difference in the three groups.3. In the second monitoring(ECoG 2), the incidence rate of BS showed no statistical difference between the three groups. Conclusions: In patients with secondary epilepsy, small dose of midazolam combined propofol in the induction of anesthesia was an appropriate choose.
