Aim:Examine the association of insulin resistance with sarcopenia in Chinese hospitalization old patients. Methods:We conducted this study using data from hospitalized Chinese people 60 years old and older.who were examined using DXA and measured fasting blood-glucose, fasting insulin or C-Peptide,HbA1 c, grip strength and 6-m usual gait speed. We classified the participants into two groups based on patients got sarcopenia or not. Results:The analysis shows the IRI of sarcopenia was significantly higher than no sarcopenia(P< 0.05). Correlation analysis showed that ASM/height2 was negatively correlated with IRI(P<0.05),grip strength and 6-m usual gait speedare significantly negatively correlated with IRI(P<0.01).Logistic regression analysis showed that sarcopenia was positively associated with IRI(P<0.05).Conclusions:Our study shows that sarcopenia associated with insulin resistance. With early detection and intervention of sarcopenia, we can avoid or reduce the morbidity of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus.
