The anti-GQ1b antibody syndrome is a continuous autoimmune spectrum of disorder that encompasses the peripheral and central nervous systems. Its manifestations include ataxia, ophthalmoplegia and disturbance of consciousness. The disorder spectrum includes Miller Fisher syndrome,Guillain-Barré syndrome with ophthalmoplegia, Bickerstaff’s brainstem encephalitis and acute ophthalmoplegia. The term“anti-GQ1b IgG antibody syndrome” is useful for understanding the aetiological relation among the various illnesses, for accommodating the variety of clinical presentations and for introducing the established treatments of GBS for use with other conditions. Therefore, we review the research progress of anti-GQ1b IgG antibody syndrome.
