"Gati"and "gimi" all are the affixes which mean "tendency". Usually some scholars contrastively study on their grammar, meaning and tendency, also sometimes on pragmatics separately. But for the collocation research of affixes and their front elements, there is still room to investigate. Studying "giti"and "gimi", firstly, I collect the example sentences of them from the Balanced Corpus of Modern Written Japanese, which is developed by Japan’s National Institute of Japanese Language, then I summarize all the front elements that appear in the example sentences and evaluate the appearing frequency of the front elements through statistical analysis software. Secondly, combining "Lexical Semantic Classification Table", classify the collected front elements and contrastively summarize the characteristics of them. From the example sentences and the appearing frequency, we know "gati"and "gimi" can connect verb form and noun. The front elements of the compound words of "gati" usually are verb form, when "gimi", usually noun. From its classification, we know that when compound words connect verb form in the front, the front elements of abstract relationship are the most frequently used, followed by those represent the Nature and natural phenomenon. The last are those represent mind and behavior of human activities. But for "gimi", the turn of frequency is abstract relationship, mind and behavior of human activities, and the Nature and natural phenomenon. However, when compound words connect noun form, the frequencies are in the totally opposite of those of each other.Further analysis of using prototype theory shows:in the catalogue of verb form of front elements, the Nature and natural phenomenon is the intermediate case of "gati"vs front elements and the surrounding case of "gimi"vs. The mind and behavior of human activity are the other way around. In the catalogue of noun of them, human mind and behavior are the prototype of the front elements of "gati" and the surrounding cases of "gimi". Abstract relationship is the surrounding case and the prototype of "gimi"...
