A Comparative Study Of Yuelaiyue, Yuefa And Yitianbiyitian

This thesis conveys a comparative study of Yuelaiyue, Yuefa andYitianbiyitian from both diachronic and synchronic view. It explains thegrammatical and semantic differences between these three structures fromthe point of image schema.First, a diachronic investigation is conveyed to see the evolution ofthese three structures. It also analyses the type and meaning of them ineach period.Then, the thesis conducts a grammatical analysis on the threestructures. It classifies the characteristics of the component after eachstructure and subdivides the types of verbal and adjective phrases. Thethesis also investigates the syntactic function of Yuelaiyue X, Yuefa X andYitianbiyitian X. With the syntactic function analysis of Yuelaiyue, thisthesis forecasts that Yuelaiyue will solidify as one word and become atypical degree adverb.The semantic analysis is the core of this thesis. By classifying thesemantic types of each structure, we conclude the semantic characteristics and find the image schemas of them. The image schema of Yuelaiyue X isa slash in the time dimension. The image schema of Yuefa X is two pointsin the time dimension. The image schema of Yitianbiyitian X is acontinuous set of points in the time dimension.Finally, the thesis conveys an analysis on the errors from foreignstudents and gives some suggestion for the current teaching practice.
