A Translation Project Report On C-E Translation Of Deliberative Democracy In China

This is a translation project report on Deliberative Democracy in China by Huo Jingtao. DeliberativeDemocracy in China is a political text of foreign publicity. It is to be translated for English-speakers who areinterested in Chinese politics. So, the background national condition and the basic state policy of China shouldbe considered and different translation strategies should be flexibly used to meet the foreigner readers.The report consists of six parts. The first part is the brief introduction of the translation project. The secondpart provides a general description of the source text from the point of text-type and style. Part three ispre-translation preparations. In this part, explicit translation plan is introduced after discussing the translationprocess. Following a brief discussion of the theoretical framework concerning strategies and principles ofpolitical publicity, this part also analyzes the characteristics of wording and sentence patterns of politicalpublicity, and then corresponding translation methods are recommended by ways of examples. Part four is theactual translation process of the source text. In this part some specific approaches of word and sentencetranslation are provided. Part five is an evaluation of adequately of the target text. Finally, the last part is thereflection of the translation project.
