A Translation Report About Mobile Learning On Scientific Papers

Mobile learning is defined at a simple level as learning with portable devices. The paper is based on theauthor‘s experience of translating two papers on mobile learning in article of science and technology.The implementation of translation practice is under the guidance of Nida‘s functional equivalence, namely,achieving equivalence in function between two languages rather than rigid word for word correspondence. Interms of form and meaning, meaning goes first. This report takes the E-C translation of theoretical perspectiveson mobile language learning diaries and noticing for learners, teachers and researchers and developments in theuse of mobile devices for second and foreign language learning as an example to illustrate the application offunctional equivalence in translation process. The principle of faithfulness and expressiveness should be born inmind during the whole process of translation in article of science and technology, while the language featuresand stylistic characteristics are of equal importance so as to reproduce source text to the largest extent. In thisway, the target readers can have a better understanding of science and technology information conveyed bysource text. In case analysis, the author puts forward corresponding translation strategies from the aspect of word,sentence and passage.The report describes specific translation process and makes an analysis on source text, using the theory offunctional equivalence to propose translation strategies accordingly based on many examples. It is hoped that thereport and the translation of papers on mobile learning can have implications for people who translate such kindof texts.
