The electronic organ is a new type of instrument combining digital technologyand musical art, which has been introduced to China in the late1980s. In the20years of dedicated study, discussion, exploration and popularization motivated bynumerous scholars, the electronic organ has developed rapidly in the professionalmusic teaching domestically and has gained popularity among music lovers. Theelectronic organ is able to imitate the timbre characteristics of traditional acousticinstruments and to perform the form of multi-tone music. Besides, only oneexecutant is needed to fulfill the sound effect of the entire orchestra by playing theelectronic organ, thus the electronic organ is reputed to be “the orchestra with onemember”. Based on such a characteristic, this paper applies the function of adaptingand performing the work of orchestra on the electronic organ to the teaching of thepiano concerto, replaces orchestra with the electronic organ to perform with thepiano, studies the function of concerto of the electronic organ in the piano concerto,and especially expounds how to adapt and perform the orchestra part of the pianoconcerto on the electronic organ by taking the first chapter from the most difficultpiano concerto Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3in D Minor as an example.This paper consists of three parts. The first part deals with the meaning andvalue of the electronic organ on the orchestra concerto of the piano concerto teaching.The second part studies the arrangement of the orchestra concerto part ofRachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3in D Minor on the electronic organ. The thirdpart analyzes the performance of the orchestra concerto part of Rachmaninoff PianoConcerto No.3in D Minor on the electronic organ.
