Recently,“Being Lovelorn for33Days”,“An Embarrassed Trip to Thailand”,“To Our Youth Which Is Bound to Lost” and other Chinese low-budget movies hadbeen the high grossing films. However, high-grossing films don’t always earn goodpublic praise. While we are cheered by the profit of these high grossing films, weshould maintain keen vigilance at the film industry bubble. The acceptance aestheticstheory believes that, it’s the audiences’ acceptance rather than the accomplishment ofthe art that make the art fulfilled. One need to focus on the audience study when hewants to make through in the field of film study. It says that today’s film market isbeing taken place by the youth, especially the university students. In all, study onstudents’ acceptance of films is an important part for the Chinese film study.From the point of students’ acceptance, this article focuses on the study ofChinese low-budget but high-grossing films since the year of film industrialization.First, the article take a questionnaire survey in university to investigate the subjects inacceptance: university students. The article analyze university students’ film typepreference, film watching aim and factors which would influence the students’ filmchoices. Secondly, the article focuses on the objects in film acceptance: Chineselow-budget but high-grossing films. The second study part includes two parts: one isto analyze the inside elements which would affect students’ film acceptance; one is toanalyze the outside ones. For the inside ones, the article discusses three aspects: filmnarrative strategy, film image shaping, and film artistic prospect. For the outside ones,the article discusses these films’ marketing strategies. Finally, the article points outthe creation problems of these low-budget but high-grossing films. These films aredisposed to be fractional, shallow, and kitsch work.
