Song dynasty is an era of valuing literary talent above martial arts, and the culture of Chinese feudal society also developed to a peak during the Song dynasty, for example a large increase of the number of people in the Examination System of Song Dynasty, which provided a good opportunity for the people from poor families to change their life and get into aristocratic stratum. For this reason, compared to the previous dynasties, the number and scale of aristocratic families of the Song Dynasty are greatly increased. Under the influence of the wave of valuing literary talent above martial arts in the whole society, the development of literature related to literary families closely. There are two reasons for the case of Su family of Tong’ An study in this thesis. First, the Su family of Tong’ An was in a period of great prosperity in the Northern Song Dynasty, ranked equally as the most famous family with the Su family of Zizhou and Meishan in early Song Dynasty. Second, the Su family of Tongan with a large number of descendants stretched through the Song Dynasty, although the family tended to decline lately. Su Jiong, as a descendant of the family, had a certain influence on the Jiang Hu School of Poetry. Therefore, Su family of Tong’An should be regarded as a typical example of the aristocratic families of the Song Dynasty. Starting with the study of Su Jiong, this thesis attempts to describe the state of poetic circles in the mid-late of the Southern Song Dynasty through the grasp of the macro-social environment and micro-individual situation.Su Jiong as a research object in a thesis is special. As a descendant of Tong’ An SUS’, he enjoyed the glory of this famous family. Meanwhile, he had a close relationship with the members of the Jiang Xi School of Poetry and the Jiang Hu School of Poetry closely. The Library Ministers of Si Ku considered Su Jiong as a member of Jiang Hu School of Poetry. However, Su Jiong’s poetry reflects different characteristics with the Jiang Hu School of Poetry distinctively, for example, he learned from Du Fu and other excellent poets, and insisted on an unique poetry theory on literature. In the introduction, this thesis introduces the research significance and reviews the former studies. The method of my study is synthesizing philology and literature. In Chapter One, this thesis traces the development of Su Jiong’s family, analyzes the sustained influence of famous family on the descendants from the Tong’ An SUS’. In Chapter Two, this thesis points out the process of Su Jiong accepting complex poetic thoughts. In Chapter Three, this thesis analyzes Su Jiong’s poetry theory and works, and points out Su Jiong has formed a special style combining clear health with primitive simplicity grounded on studying from various school of thoughts. In Chapter Four and Five, the thesis takes some travel poets which were written during certain periods as study objects, points out the relationship between his life experience and poetry creation. And the last part is the final conclusion of the whole thesis.
