This dissertation is based on a study of the chamber opera "Wolf Cub Village" composed by Guo Wenjing, focusing on the original work, libretto, music-drama structure, language tone, and pitch organization.This dissertation is comprised of3Parts.Part One:Introduction. The first part of the Introduction is a summary of the feature of the modern opera and the general situation of the development of Chinese modern opera; The second part is a summary of the opera creation of Guo Wenjing and "Wolf Cub Village"; The third part of the Introduction including the research status and the implicit topics of reasons.The first chapter analyzes the original works from the creation background, structure, purpose, dramatis personae and content.The second chapter investigates the dramatic structure and the structural integrity of the opera. The music-drama structure of each act is considered in the analysis.The third chapter focuses on the opera music, investing the form of melody, rhythm, language tone, orchestra and pitch organization.The opera "Wolf Cub Village" is an opera in Chinese concept of drama, emphasizing " singing, speaking, acting and acrobatic fighting ", stage movement, psychological activity and the ascendant of the music to the language. Reference the modern composing techniques, fully tap the potential of Chinese language tone.
