| At the background cultural turn, feminist translation theory becomes more andmore flourishing around the world; some scholars begin to pay attention to the factor ofgender in translation. But the present studies mainly focus on analyzing the differencesbetween male s version and female s version. Few scholars tend to analyze if thetranslators can keep other gender s perspective on the basis of androgyny. This thesis takestwo versions of Jane Eyre as the research objective, comparing the reproduction andrecreation of female consciousness in female translator Zhu Qingying s version and maletranslator Huang Yuanshen s version through analyzing representative examples. The aimof this thesis is to explain that Huang Yuanshen can keep androgynous perspective throughshifting his gender identity and reviewing the gender problems from the femaleperspective. This thesis will borrow the concept of androgyny to explain translator s genderperspective in translation. Androgyny usually means the combination of femaletemperament and male temperament. Translator s androgyny mainly means translator canview the problem of gender from different gender perspectives in the process oftranslating to fulfill the transformation of translator s gender identity and express theauthor s intention briefly. Influenced by the factor of gender, translators may present somediscrimination when translating other gender s works, or change the author s originalintention in order to highlight his/her own identity. Obviously, these influences can tpresent the author s true mentality and intention, and to some extent, androgyny caneliminate translator s discrimination and extreme.Jane Eyre is one of Bronte s works that is famous for its distinct femaleconsciousness. On the one hand, this thesis first presents the distinct female consciousnessof the original text from speech, behavior and mentality, then analyze whether the maletranslator can reproduce the female consciousness of the original text through comparing female translator Zhu Qingying s and Huang Yuanshen s version. Results indicated thatHuang Yuanshen can not only reproduce the distinct female consciousness from theaspects of speech, behavior and mentality, but also recreate the female consciousness ofthe original text in his translation. In doing so, the position of women in the society isenhanced and the discrimination and extreme in translation which is caused by gender iseliminated better. To some extent, these analyses explain that the translators can have asense of identity of other gender s works, they can also shift his gender identity, placehimself in the scene of the original text to understand the author s mentality and intentionbetter and finally fulfill the androgyny. |
