Folk belief is a universal human belief, which has played a great role in the courseof history, encompassing the content of beliefs, and witch belief that is popular inShandong Linqu region is one of folk beliefs. This paper provides an overview of thenatural environment and cultural and historical background of the Linqu region, usingfieldwork methods of folklore, combining with the comparative study of folklore,specific analysis theory and drawing on relevant researches in anthropology andsociology, making preliminary research on the witch belief of Linqu region on the basisof mastering the first-hand information from fieldwork. First, this paper uses extensivefieldwork methods to collect information on the discrimination of the "witch belief"concept, and analysis the meaning of witch belief from multiple perspectives,ceremonial and ritual activities that are engaged in the "scriptures" that consolidated.Secondly, sorting the transmission and dissemination of witch belief, summarizing thecharacteristics it inherits and the way it spreads. Finally, explore the meaning of itsexistence. The witch belief plays a big role in the region’s cultural of Linqu. Linquwitch belief does have superstitious elements,however, it meets the psychologicalneeds of the masses as a supplement to an official ideology. The strong sense of ethicsstory which witches tell educate the public. Some ritual entertainment contents alsoplay a role in the public’s entertainment in rural areas. linqu witch faith has a longhistory and it is spread widely.It is still play an important role and has some researchvalue in social life. Given few literature materials mention linqu witch faith and thecelebration of the process of urbanization, liqu witch faith is disappearing slowly, sorelevant departments should collect, protect, and preserve linqu witch faith as itshould be protected as a non-material cultural heritage.
