The Difference Of Chinese Relative Clauses Cognitive Processing In Different Positions

The study explore the of relative clauses syntactic processing characteristics in chinesereading, cognitive processing differences and advantages of effects, with behavioralexperiment and ERP experiments on study cognitive processing of relative clauses inembedded the subject position and object position.The first experiment, behavioral experiment. With E-prime program, scheduled to takepace from reading task, by manipulating the embedded location of the relative clause(embedding position: subject position embedded the relative clause; object location embeddedthe relative clause) and the relative clause type (clause type: SRC; ORC),do the two-factorexperimental design. Record reaction time of each word block, analysis of the reaction. Theresult is, in the conditions of the subject position embedded the relative clause, the subjectrelative clause processing is easier; in the conditions of the object position embedded therelative clause was no difference.The second experiment, EEG experiment. The use of ERP technology, by manipulatingthe embedded location of the relative clause (embedding position: subject position embeddedthe relative clause; object location embedded the relative clause) and the relative clause type(clause type: SRC; ORC), do the two-factor experimental design. Recorded EEG duringprocessing, and examine each word block N400, P600components, the average volatility ofthe statistical analysis results: in the conditions of the subject position embedded the relativeclause, the object relative clause processing induce greater wave; in the conditions of theobject position embedded the relative clause, the subject relative clause induce greater wave.Basing on the study result, some inclusions could be come to:(1) In the conditions of the subject position embedded the relative clause, the subjectrelative clause processing is easier; in the conditions of the object position embedded therelative clause, the object relative clause In processing is easier.The conditions of the subjectposition embedded the relative clause is easier than the conditions of the object positionembedded the relative clause, showing the position of advantage.(2) In the conditions of the object position embedded the relative clause, the subjectrelative clause processing than the object relative clause easily processed, there aredifferences in the clause region and the main clause predicate position sentence, in clauseregional, ORC than SRC induce greater N400and P600, the performance advantages of thesubject of relative clause processing.(3) In the conditions of the object position embedded the relative clause, there are differences in the main clause、predicate clause regional and relationship markers "that"location, in clause regional, SRC than ORC induce greater N400and P600, the performanceadvantages of the object of relative clause processing.(4) In this study, evoked the N400and P600components, indicating that the processingof relative clauses in Chinese, not only semantic processing, more is needed to constructsyntactic processing, and in sentence processing, need to build a whole semantics with syntax.
