The period of Daoguang and Xianfeng of Qing dynasty was the period of socialchange, and Qing dynasty was changing from flourish to decadence at this time. Someproblems of Qing dynasty gradually emerged because they were accumulated for longtime but failed to solve. Therefore, national conflicts became shape. Problems werecomplex in officialdom during this period, mainly embodied in the less official moralstandards, selling ranks seriously, forming a clique for self-interests, giving and takingbribes openly.In the face of the trend of national going down, different officials in officialdomhad different ways. Some people with breadth of vision saw the national crisis andresolutely reformed in troubled times to look for new ways. Some officials dared to beentrusted with a mission at a critical and difficult moment. Some officials formed aclique for self-interests and considered being an official as a mean to seek personalgain. Some officials were wise and made them safe, so they successfully did nothingin their life. There were many factors to influence the governing style of the officials.The author would analyze it from officials thought personality, family backgroundand psychological activities. The author introduced some research methods ofpsychology into historical research to try to be innovative.During this period, there were various rules between emperors and officials,officials, the people and officials. Every official connected with some bad systemmore or less. It was worth thinking about the problems reflected. The first, theemperor held what kind of mentality facing arbitrary rules in the officialdom as theking of the country. The second, the ministers dealt with imperial power and tookadvantage of the loopholes in the law for their own interests. The third, the officialsexploited the underprivileged people by what means to satisfy his selfish desires andofficialdom dinner party. These problems will be introduced and discussed in detail.A small leak will sink a great ship. The decline and fall of every dynasty wascaused by many problems gradually accumulated throughout the ancient Chinesehistory. Discussing about these issues is not only helpful to understand the presentsituation of the society at that time, but also provide reference for today. The authorhopes to cause the attention of scholars to research and apply psychology in the fieldof historical through own research.
