The Contemporary Chinese Mainstream Culture And Social Identity

Under the background of globalization, the mainstream culture of our socialism is facing theself-building, the impact and challenges of multiculturalism and the values, and the elimination of secularculture because of the rising network and media culture. And the propagation of the mainstream culture hasbeen blocked under all kinds of the evil social influence. Hence,we must understand what is the mainstreamculture, what is the connotation of the mainstream culture, what is the form of the mainstream culture, howto enhance the identity of the mainstream culture to the public. All of these have important theoretical andpractical significance.The connotation of the mainstream culture has many definitions; there is no unified definition inacademic field about it up to now. In this paper, drawing on existing research results, combined with theresearch domain, the mainstream culture is defined as: national dominant ideology under the leading ofMarxism Leninism, Mao Zedong thought, the theoretical system of socialism of Chinese characteristics, thesocialist core value system is the core of the spirit and values, Chinese excellent traditional culture is as anational nutrition, widely absorb the reasonable elements of western culture, which can lead the direction ofsocial custom and culture.Mainstream cultural patterns in the form referred to herein are the external manifestation and thecarrier of internal ecosystem structure in the mainstream culture, which includes value modality, systematicmodality, theoretical modality, document modality, media modality, opinion form, literature and filmmodality, modality of archaeological sites and cultural relics modality. The value and system form, is theembodiment of the mainstream cultural values and social system; theory and literature form is thesupporting theory of mainstream culture and reflect the mainstream culture of literature; media and mediaforms, is the spread of mainstream culture media and form of public opinion; literature and film modality isto show the mainstream culture literature and film and television works; ruins and relics form is to witnessthe development history of the mainstream culture, heritage sites, cultural relics. By revealing themainstream culture, make the structure more clearly show the mainstream culture in the social public, themainstream culture.In this paper, on the basis of the analysis to the existing academic research related to the mainstream cultural identity data, recognition of the status of the mainstream culture are summarized, and the currentidentify status of the community to mainstream culture is grouped into three aspects: first, there is groupdifference to the overall social identity on the mainstream culture, to the group of party and administrativecadres, the group of intellectuals and college students group, whose identity to mainstream culture is betterthan that of the general public, who think mainstream culture is too boring, and therefore more incline toaccept the popular culture. Through thethree identity paths, practice the full range of guiding people’s identity, struggle, enterprising, create theformation of people’s mental outlook; form a healthy, civilized, positive, upward social atmosphere;integrity, friendly, mutual social relations; form a good situation of socialist economic, political, social,cultural, ecological and harmonious development.
