Psychological verbs represent the mental state or activity, which are considered a very special kind of word within the Chinese vocabulary system, as with the complexity of each internal member and the variability of their syntactic function. We select psychological verbs as the object of our study and investigation, hoping to get closer to the scientific essence and objectivity of psychological verbs, enrich the research ideas and methods of Chinese vocabulary and grammar, and more clearly understand and master these verbs, looking forward to make it benefit the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Therefore, in this paper, we mainly discuss the definition and classification of psychological verbs in modern Chinese and their grammatical features in TCFL textbooks. This paper is divided into six chapters.Introduction:This paper first describes the significance of the topic and then sorts into the research history and current situation Then we clarify the object and content of our study, the source of corpus and our research methods.Chapter1:Definition and classification of psychological verbs. We define psychological verbs and retrieve63psychological verbs from the Chinese Verb Usage Dictionary as the object of our study. These verbs are classified from the aspect of grade, form, frequency and significance.Chapter2:Grammatical features of psychological verbs. The syntactic features include the ability to act as a syntactic component, how the verbs are when they are followed by objects, the ability in combination with other words like dynamic particles and adverbs of degree.Chapter3:Study on the distribution and application of psycho logical verbs in TCFL textbooks. We choose two sets of TCFL primary comprehensive textbooks Integrated Chinese and Developed Chinese which are composed of six books in total. We analyze psychological verbs’ distribution in the two sets of textbooks, get the statistic data about the number of verbs and find that there are altogether44 psychological verbs appearing in the two sets. Among them, there are29in Integrated Chinese and38in Developed Chinese.Chapter4:Views on compiling TCFL textbooks. We analyze the advantages and disadvantages the two sets of textbooks hold in perspectives of choosing words, POS tagging, words comment and how the TCFL textbooks display grammatical functions of psychological verbs. In this way, we try to put forward some suggestions and thinking in terms of TCFL textbook compiling.Epilogue:In this chapter we summarize the main points and point out the innovation and defects within this paper.
