A Folklore Study On Workmanship Of Traditional Ujimqin Mongolian Robe

This paper consists of five parts, introduction, three chapters,conclusion and reference.In the introduction, research objective, literature review and researchmethods are given.The first chapter talks about the classification of Ujimqin Mongolianrobes. There are five kinds of robes worn by Ujimqin Mongolians, smokedfurred robe, furred robe with silk or cotton as shell fabric, wadded robewith exquisite sewing lines, silk robe with cotton lining and tunic; each onehas a garment structure and certain commonly used materials.The second chapter describes the tailoring of Ujimqin Mongolian robes.It elaborates the different ways of tailoring and sewing of five kinds ofrobes as well as related customs and taboos.The third chapter is focused on embroidering, the making of purfle andButton loops, color matching skills of Ujimqin Mongolian robes. Itdiscusses the inheritance of tradition and status in today’s UjimqinMongolian robes.In the conclusion, it illuminates the cultural connotation of UjimqinMongolian robes; also, it emphasizes the important role that thecraftsmanship of Ujimqin Mongolian robes plays in Mongolian dress andadornments culture, and its contribution to enrich Mongolian culture.
