| "Rimland" is a relative concept to "center". The edge of the geographical location, political and economic backwardness, non-mainstream of the civilization and culture are the three main characteristics for "rimland". Zhang Chengzhi’s rimland writing from geography perspective mainly includes Inner Mongolia grassland, south and north of Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, the loess plateau of Gan Ning Qing, these three "rimland" across the north. From the culturology perspective, Zhang Chengzhi’s rimland writing takes Islamic religion as the core, which is in rimland status relatively compare with the Confucian civilization in Central Plain. Obviously, there are difference between rimland from culturology perspective and rimland from geography perspective; these two kinds of rimland have the cross on the connotation. Because the formation of the culture requires a variety of conditions, moreover, the structure of complex and diverse for rimland culture are more than traditional mainstream culture.This paper is based on the concept of "rimland", discusses the form of language features and cultural connotations in the rimland writing of Zhang Chengzhi’s literature.Using local dialects of Gan Ning Qing and Islamic religious terms in creating the theme text of the Hui nationality in northwest; using the approximate sound of Chinese characters transfer the essential characteristics of the Inner Mongolia steppe nomads extremely rich life world:the typical images such as "fine horse","the sun","yellow cottage","bloody clothes" and others are written repeatedly. The constructing of typical image community make readers have a more clear understanding and experience in the writing of Zhang Chengzhi’s rimland world. The using of dialect and the selection of images not only bring strangeness to readers, but also take the usual character and amorous feelings and the customs of northwest for us.Memories and wounds in childhood and the absurdity experiences in the Cultural Revolution due to Zhang Chengzhi’s character a natural quality against the system. Three blocks rimland of his life journey are the folk world against the system and refused to power. From Inner Mongolia grassland to south and north of Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang and the loess plateau, Zhang Chengzhi constantly moisturize from folk culture. He goes to the lifelong journey against mundane tide absolutely. In the writing of nature, life, religion, and suffering, Zhang Chengzhi shows the good factors of rimland life fully:mutually confirmed for human and nature, the worship of the life value, with religious personality to correct secular personality, transcend and relief to face the suffering etc. So many word ways affect reader’s heart. In fact, it is an interpretation that what we should do to be a person. Zhang Chengzhi persist in caring position to the underlying folk, in his description of natural landscape and human landscape, the more we perceive is a living landscape filled with pure true, the good and the beauty, it is a spiritual dimension different from the instrumental rationality.Religious attitude and the intense cultural position are Zhang Chengzhi’s most distinctive characteristics. However, Zheherenye pursuit the beauty of the sacrifice reject the happiness lifetime, to some extent, it has the suspicion in killing individual life value. The paradox of Zhang Chengzhi’s cultural critique that take religious culture as the value is that his targets too generalization make him unable to find a specific opponent, as if place himself in a matrix of nothing. The large and empty direction makes his critical that full of passion lost ringing shouting and fade to empty screaming preaching to some extent. Taking secular and vulgar as the same is the cause of his hypocrisy and vanity, arbitrary and subjective. Alert live in vain as a mortal; rush out the limitation of the paranoid thoughts; add to calmness and philosophy, his thought resources will increasingly rich.The literary practice that put thought resources in a rational way into contemporary culture is quite difficult. Zhang Chengzhi ultra emotional expression misses a deep insight; however, the free and unrestrained emotional expression way is unique charm. It is real a problem to make a correct evaluation to Zhang Chengzhi. But we cannot deny that Zhang Chengzhi’s literature pursuit of the spirit, the temperament of his faith, dignity and integrity between the lines are radiant. Zhang Chengzhi hope to sublimate a kind of universal value in Zheherenye’s religious beliefs, carry forward humanitarian, human values. He tried to spin off many appearances, kernel to life. Zhang Chengzhi abide by the mission of intellectuals, never forget to criticize, soothe our impetuous and confused hearts, provides ideas and spirit that have lasting significance for this more utilitarian, more weak society, and this is an indisputable fact. |
