The first part is formingbackground of Katz style, such as influence of traditional painting style and modern painting techniques;The second part is to analyze Katz’s planarity style of oil painting, and it is mainly to explore modelingsimplification, color processing and shape composition of his drawing; The third part is to analyze howabstraction and representation are harmoniously matched with each other in Katz’s works; The fourth partis the meaning of planarity painting which combines representation and abstraction. The article deeplyand systematically researches forming background, artistic planarity style, application and integration ofrepresentation and abstraction of Katz’s painting style. We can notice that he uses large format in his works,even some people says his works have lens sense. On the theme of works, he always selects materials withfashionable flavor, such as in his portrait painting, even in his landscape painting. He does a simplifiedplanarity processing by virtue of modern fashionable elements, which makes simple and quiet paintingsgive the viewer a very strong impact. Integration of representation and abstraction is just perfect, andrepresentation of painting objects and abstraction of colors are very harmonious in his works. This harmonybeing expressed on the painting is that it gives an easy, even indifferent feeling, and makes people stir imagination. However, this kind of painting style is worth thinking and studying.
