By mainly using the text study, document analysis and illustration method,this paper studies the female image in Vietnamese ballads from the followingaspects: external female image in Vietnamese ballads, internal female image inVietnamese ballads and analysis of causes of formation of female image inVietnamese ballads. The image construction and causes analysis in the imageshaping of female image in Vietnamese ballads are the research focus in whichinnovation is embodied. The first chapter: Introduction. The second chapter is acomprehensive grasp of characteristics of the external female image in Vietnameseballads. With the analysis of description of the female hair, teeth, eyes, mouth andother parts in Vietnamese ballads which displays the external beauty, this chapterstudies the metaphor image construction and reveals its function in shaping theexternal female image in Vietnamese ballads. The third chapter is a comprehensivegrasp of characteristics of the internal female image in Vietnamese ballads. Thischapter displays the internal female beauty in Vietnamese ballads through thedescription of typical features of their filialness towards parents, roles as a thriftyhousekeeper, unswerving loyalty and self-sacrifice and it elaborates separatelysymbolization and personification and reveals their function in shaping the internalfemale image in Vietnamese ballads. The fourth chapter analyzes the causes offormation of the female image in Vietnamese ballads from the following threeaspects: dual influence of Confucian culture and local culture, the geographic andclimate conditions of residence and the special circumstances of a succession ofwars. The plenteous analysis and discussion in this paper will brings readers anobjective and all-round understanding of the significance of Vietnamese ballads inliterary history and the paper fills the gaps of study of female image in Vietnameseballads in domestic Vietnamese academic circle.
