Studies On Linguistic Features And Translation Principles Of Business Contracts

With the rapid development of the economic globalization, business transactions between China and foreign countries have increased greatly. As is known to all, business contracts have been playing a crucial role in the international economic activities that take place among enterprises, so that their translation becomes more and more important. This paper analyzes a service contract with the focus on analyzing the vocabulary and sentences, so as to find out several translation methods applied in translating business contracts. In this paper, the author introduces the stylistic features of Chinese and English business contracts, and attempts to list the difficulties in the translation and to propose some proper translation methods.This thesis is made up of five parts. The first is an introduction of this report and introduces the research aims and some problems in translating business contracts. The second part describes the translation task, which introduces the source of the translation materials in the thesis and analyzes the language features of Chinese and English business contracts. And the third part describes several translation principles, including the principle of accuracy, the principle of consistency and regulatory principle. The fourth part presents the specific translation cases and analyzes the application of these principles in the process of translating these materials with focus on the analysis of vocabulary and sentence. The fifth part is the conclusion that these principles can be greatly applied in translating business contracts. And the author will further these principles so as to improve the translation ability in the process of translating business contracts.
