The integration of information technology into foreign language teaching isgradually getting mature from the embryonic period. In recent years, manyachievements have been made in the computer-based college English listening andspeaking teaching reform. At the same time, some problems and shortcomings haveappeared in the process of the new practice. This paper regards the college Englishlistening and speaking teaching as an ecosystem based on the characteristics of collegeEnglish listening and speaking course. It analyzes current situation and problems ofcomputer-based college English listening and speaking teaching and puts forward aseries of optimizing strategies by using educational ecology methods and principlestargeting at providing some ideas to construct a balanced, dynamic and sustainabledevelopment ecosystem.Based on the above purposes, the study intends to comb and answer the followingquestions: What aspects of college English listening and speaking teaching have beenchanged after the implementation of the CETR? What new imbalances have appearedin the teaching reform? What are the reasons for the new imbalances and what effectivemeasures can be offered to optimize the imbalanced ecological environment? In orderto explore and answer these questions and to get an overall evaluation of the program, the study selects Yanshan University as the research context.10teachers are chosenaccording to their ages, genders, and professional titles and240sophomore studentsare randomly sampled from the mechanical engineering and humanities and lawfaculties as research subjects. Based on an integrated review of numerous evaluationmodels, an adapted evaluation mode is designed for this research. The qualitative andquantitative analyses are used in this research and the qualitative analysis as the mainresearch method. Data has been gathered with the methods of questionnaires, interviews and class observations during the process.Investigation and data analysis show that numerous imbalances exist in thecomputer-based college English listening and speaking teaching. Problems are mainly reflected on two aspects: the school ecological environment imbalance and classecological environment imbalance including four sub-environments imbalance:organizational learning environment, cultural learning environment, resourcefullearning environment and emotional learning environment. In order to promote benigncirculation and sustainable development of college English listening and speakingteaching, the study intends to untangle the four aspects of imbalances from theperspective of educational ecology in hope of providing optimizing strategies, exploring how to construct and optimize the computer-based college English listeningand speaking teaching system.
