This paper is a comparative study of discourse perspective marker format “zai(在)+X+shuola(i说来)”and “jiu(就)+X+shuola(i说来)”in modern Chinese,based on the extensivecollection of the corpus. The main part of the text includes three chapters except introduction andconclusion.Chapter one mainly analyses the discourse nature of “zai+X+shuolai”and “jiu+X+shuolai”.“zai+X+shuolai”and “jiu+X+shuolai”are both discourse marker format.As they are commonlyused in the discourse level, indicating speaker’s viewpoint of discourse narrative,thus can beviewed as discourse perspective marker.Chapter two mainly studies the perspective type of “zai+X+shuolai”and “jiu+X+shuolai”.By analyzing the corpus,we find that the discourse perspective of “zai+X+shuolai”can bedevided into five types: perspective of subject、perspective of object、perspective of basis、perspective of range and perspective of time; the discourse perspective of “jiu+X+shuolai”can bedevided into six types: perspective of basis、perspective of object、perspective of subject、perspective of time、perspective of range and perspective of illustrating.Chapter three performs comparisons and substitutions of “zai+X+shuolai”and“jiu+X+shuolai”. We find that“zai+X+shuolai”is usually used to emphasize the subject ofdiscourse,“jiu+X+shuolai”is usually used to emphasize the basis of discourse. Though there aremany concordances between perspective types of “zai+X+shuolai”and “jiu+X+shuolai”,such asboth include perspective of subject、perspective of object、perspective of basis、perspective oftime and perspective of range.however, Due to the semantic, syntactic and phonetic factors,nomatter perspective types are coherent or not, substitutions of them can not be generalized.
