| In recent years, the translation study field is expanding continuously and has made a breakthrough with many theories of other subjects involved. Objectively, the interdisciplinary research of translation provides huge development space and injects new vitality to translation study. So this thesis starts from the aspect of translation as a medium of cross-cultural communication, with the basis of relevant theories of cross-cultural communication and media, and focuses research on loss of text information, transformation, addition, extension and other problems in language transformation process through the discussion and example analysis of dysfunction and deviation of translation. This thesis also proves translation’s linguistic, cultural and informational function as a tool of communication. This thesis takes many theories as support, with study methods of examples analysis, generalization and summarization. Under the analysis of many examples of dysfunction and deviation in translation history, we make a conclusion: dysfunction and deviation in translation is inevitable because of the five elements of subject, object, receptor, behavior and result, and for reasons out of culture, language, translator and integrated factors. The author holds that to fulfill the functions of translation as a medium, the translator should take full considerations of original texts’ historical and cultural background, pay attention to differences between source and target languages, and then translate under the basis of improving translational level. Only in this way can we ensure translation accuracy and avoid translational dysfunction and deviation to a large extent.Studies at home and abroad about mediotranslatology and mistranslation from the aspect of cross-cultural communication are still insufficient, the current research achievements are only references and there are other aspects which need further study. So this thesis studies translation on relevant theories of cross-cultural communication and media, expands translation studies’ research fields to some extent, and provides new research direction for future development of translation. Deeper understanding of mediotranslatology and its development prospect in the future is hoped, and this thesis can provide some materials and perspectives for the current translation interdisciplinary research. The conclusion contributes to the development in mediotranslatology as a new inter-discipline, promotes further development of translation studies and improves its construction. It is hoped this thesis’s discussion can raise scholars’ attention on translation’s interdisciplinary research and make them realize mediotranslatology’s irreplaceable place in translation theory construction, and drive it to a higher level. |
