Worship images are common themes in the Buddhist caves.Worship images means that someone worship the Buddha carving theirs images on the caves in order to express their piety for the buddha. They do this in order to obtain the Buddha’s blessing, pray for themselves and their families, to pray for breaking away from misery as soon as possible. Worship portraits and Buddhism were born on the same day. Because many of the Buddhist sutras preaching various interests for worshiping the Buddha.This inspired believers’enthusiasm for dugging caves and carving statues.Consequences is more and more worship portraits were produced. Worship images were introduced into China with Buddhism together. The initial portraits were very simple, but it became more and more complex with the extensive spread of Buddhism.Finally, the Relievo of Emperor and Empress Worship Buddha formed on the wall of central cave of Yungang grotto.Gongxian grotto added a number of new elements in the images of Emperor and Empress Worship Buddha.Gongxian near the Luoyang,there are many tombs of Han dynasty in Luoyang. A large number of elements from tomb murals of Han dynasty permeates in the Relievo of Emperor and Empress Worship Buddha. For example, divided a whole sroryline into several layers,application of the contrast, the emphasis of dynamic,and so on.This article focused on a numaber of factors which have an impact on the Relievo of Emperor and Empress Worship Buddha in the Gongxian grotto based on the image analysis.Try to find the cause of this image in order to definite the Gongxian grotto’s status in the Buddhist sculptures of Northern Wei dynasty.
