At current society, space explodes and time flies. In the domain of literature, the traditional time-space relationship, represented by the theory of limits of poetry and painting, proposed by Lessing, is not able to explain the status of the new era, and even the idea itself implies space-time opposition artificially, because it highlights the advantages of rational time. However, since the 19th century, with the development of science, the concept of absolute space-time in the classical physics has been disapproved. In modern physics (represented by the theories of Einstein), space-time is relative, rather than absolute, and it is associated with natural world closely. The diversity and dynamics of natural world lead to the instability and relativity of the time-space, instead of the traditional view of space and time. The incoherence of space, time and natural world open up a new world for the area of literature, where the traditional time-space concept is replaced with the concepts of breakage, chaos etc. Thus the time-space category of modern literature could be expressed in a new way.At the age of mechanical reproduction, space consciousness is superior to time consciousness. This change has been grasped by the literature, where the language arts change from representing time to the spatial writing. No matter for the image of "library" and "maze" proposed by Borges, or for the French "material" writing, the understanding of the image of the world as well as the social space is shown. People feel confused in the labyrinthine contemporary space, cannot find the export, but willingly to be trapped in the simple world of materialization, which is regarded as the refuge to escape time and the death. Thus, the spatial writing is to reveal the paradoxical life condition of contemporary people.Similarly, the image arts of space are not willing to be confined within the space category in contemporary society for the pursuit of speed and efficiency, but instead that they continually try to get involved in the field of time. The attempt of changing the image arts to the time category has been existed since the ancient Egypt. By the late 19th century, the trend is more obvious, represented by the impressionism and post-impressionism. Post-impressionism influenced the Cubism of the 20th century. For example, artists (such as Picasso) created a series of works for dynamic deformation based on the composite viewpoint rule. To the time of futurism and Dadaism, speed and passion even become the keywords to be pursued. Besides, the appearance of film makes the multimedia arts become the artistic type which are more capable of telling story than fiction, in which time category plays a crucial role. The language arts of time, prefers to the spatial description to show the flow of time. These are all attempts to show people’s awareness at contemporary society. Current people gradually decrease the sense of history, and no longer blindly worship the future, so that the current moment becomes the only certainty that could be grasped in the hands. "Now" is no longer just a short now, but also the "eternal present", which includes the past and the future. It is a time category, and a space category at the same time. The space-time category of contemporary language arts and graphic arts could be used to provide multiple and rich experience of time and space, by the integration at the higher lever of binary opposition.
