America is a young country, it has made remarkable achievements in various fields in less than three hundred years after the founding of people. American praise themselves to be the young people, this also caused the American writer’s preference for growth theme. The growth of teenagers occupies an important position in their literary works, especially in the fiction. American literature has begun to focus on the growth of young people since the middle of the 19 th century, to the contemporary, growing theme changes from "lost" and "on the road" to "human nature" and "identity".Guilder is one of the important elements of Bildungsroman, the guider has a direct or indirect impact on the growth of the hero, leads the hero to mature. Studying the image of the guilder help us recognize the internal and external effect on the growth characters caused by a particular type, and then explore the meaning and value of different types of the guilder image. This text starts with the image type of the guilder, divides the traditional positive and negative lead into the mentor lead, partner lead and opposite lead. To study the guide way and effects of different types of the lead,we select the three contemporary American novel works,The Color Purple, The Kite Runner and Song of Solomon, in which growth characters deeply affected by the lead. Paper is divided into three chapters to discuss the image problem of the guilder:The first chapter starts with the definition and the prototype of it, discusses the origin and development of the image, to generalize the action of the positive and negative type. The second chapter is the main part of the paper, we take three representative works for example, using the growth subject confusion- the effect way of the guilder- the transition of the protagonist as the narrative clue, narrating image of different types of guilder, analysis the image features and shape of the it.This article will discuss the growth process of the leading character on the perspective of social culture, starting with the external environment and internal psychological analysis. This chapter is divided into three parts, the first quarter start with partner type lead to analysis the two-way interaction between "friend" going through a period of life journey together and the main body, and then explore contemporary American bildungsroman theme to a new stage of development from the height of the image analysis up to class and human nature. The second quarter starts with mentor type to study the more mature, rational lead to growth characters of unidirectional stress, observes contemporary American of new growth from the perspective of gender and race. In the third quarter,we analyse the reason of negative personality type lead themselves from the angle of money and identity, and then study the indirect impact on growth characters caused by the opposite type l.The third chapter is the conclusion part, this part discusses the narrative function and literary value of the image. Narrative function illustrates the two aspects of the image compensation function and perspective transformation, the literary value discusses the two aspects of deepen the theme and reference to growth. The literary meaning of the image is less in theory research field, it can discuss such literary image in common, and can also make up for the lack of literary studies in this area before.Since the 20 th century, as the influence of the World War, the high-speed development of economy, the diversity of cultural environment, the pain and sorrow in the process of personal growth has become one of the main ways to express themselves. Growth characters mostly complete metamorphosis after suffering from much pain, which matches the competition mechanism under the capitalist system and the law of survival of the fittest. A person’s life is often a description of a group of people similar to each other, no one can always accompany you around, cherish everyone you meet, life is good enough.
