| Deng Yuanyue is an important figure of the Fujian poetry school in the late Ming Dynasty. He had written eighteen volumes of Xilou Collection, selected and edited seven volumes of The Right Evaluation Criteria of Fujian Poetry. He also engraved Literary Selections and Words of the Day to teach the successors."The Zhulin later Seven Masters", which were led by Deng Yuanyue, continued to promote the Fujian poetry and call for literary pursuits. What they had done played a positive role in developing the Fujian poetry school. However, Deng Yuanyue and his poems haven’t arisen wide public concern, his achievement in poetry and his efforts toward the development of Min poetry haven’t been studied sufficiently either. So this thesis is based on the research of Xilou Collection and The Right Evaluation Criteria of Fujian Poetry. This thesis will do textual research into Deng’s life, extraction, Writings and social intercourse, and expound the poetic theory proposed by The Right Evaluation Criteria of Fujian Poetry, as well as analyze the ideological contents and the lyrical themes of his poems. Based on this research, the thesis tries to present a panorama of Deng and his poems in the specific environment of Fujian poetic circles and makes objective evaluation of his position in the Fujian literary regionalism history during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. |
