The Study On The Function Of Taotai Upon Modern Foreign Affairs In Taiwan

The Western powers have long coveted Taiwan. Before and after the opium war, western invaders have been trying to occupy Taiwan. Therefore, headed by Taiwan, officials launched a variety of clash with the invaders, involving political, economic, military, etc. In order to defend the motherland territorial integrity and protect the natives, they wrestled and have made a significant contribution. On the basis of predecessors’ research, this paper takes Taotai in Taiwan for example and analysis its historical role in different periods. The development and variation of the Tai wan Circuit showed that the system of the Taiwan Circuit in the Qing Dynasty was getting better and better. The Circuit eventually evolved into an important part in the local administrative system of Qing Dynasty. And, on the other hand, the Taiwan Circuit has its own uniqueness. Taiwan is an island, before and after the opium war, the western invaders always want to occupy Taiwan. So, Tao tai was endowed with a special function what was to resist the foreign enemy and deal with Foreign affairs. Through for Taiwan Taotai’s roles in dealing with foreign affairs as in the case study, we can better understand Taiwan’s history, and also a good way to for the reference to the reality.
