| This is a report for translating Section II of Global Environment of Policing, which is a collection of articles that combine historical and contemporary analyses ofthe development of policing and the challenges that have confronted and shapedpolice institutional arrangements and policing practice in the21st century. In theprocess of translation, the author finds that lexical information density is relativelyconspicuous, thus, great difficulties have been posed for the translator to deconstructthe original texts and choose proper meaning for the translated version.Under relative semantic theories, the author believes that a translator should payattention to the difference between ordinary meaning and professional meaning, andshould make a comparison and contrast of various translated texts to confirm theintended meaning by the original author. |
