With the rapid development of globalization, and the deepening exchangesbetween China and foreign countries, interpreting has played a more significant rolein foreign communications. In addition to interpreting courses offered at Collegesand Universities, various kinds of interpreting training are springing up. Nationaland regional interpreting contests are constantly held, attracting the participation ofnumerous players. Interpreting contest is not only an opportunity for players to showthemselves but also a good platform for teachers and researchers to enhance mutualcommunication and will definitely promote the rapid development of interpretingdisciplines. In a word, with the shortage of interpreters and the development ofChinese culture and economy, interpreting contests have made a positivecontribution to language service.This thesis selects Jilin Province Division of the3rdCTPC Cup All ChinaInterpretation Contest as research material and analyzed the performance andinterpretation quality of the author and five other contestants. Through convertingthe live recording into text information, the author found that the factors affectingthe interpretation quality of the players include listening capacity, figures conversion,psychological quality, vocabulary barriers, short-term memory, encyclopedicknowledge, etc.. Through the elaboration of the practical process, the author foundher own deficiencies. Finally, based on the systematical analysis of the contest, theauthor hopes to provide some references for the further self-training of interpretinglearners, MTI interpreting teaching and test design of interpreting contests.
