The topic of this paper is the research of medicinal plants painting applied in book, themeaning is to describe the growth process of a series of common medicinal plants. In the formof book is to make readers read it easily, enjoy the achievement of breeding and cultivate hismind. Present book market is enriched of this paper. It is composed of four parts.Chapter one is introduction, beginning with printing book and breeding of healthy andmedicinal plants, which narrates the origin of the study, ascertains the purpose of the research,determines the research method and ideas according to the need of research and writing.Chapter two is the market research on the book of medicinal plant. Firstly, the author wasfamiliar with the historical development at home and abroad about book of medicinal plantsthrough reviewing related literatures. Then several selected book centers and network bookplatform were surveyed to know their classification of book about medicinal plants. The readerdemand was understood after communicating with selected readers of different classes in theform of questionnaire survey and random interviews. The results of market research wereanalyzed, which provided the market basis for writing of the topic.Chapter three is the literature research report. This part provides theoretical basis for creationof the subject from two aspects. On the one hand, evolution of illustration form and drawingtechnique were understood in the medicinal plants books of different times and functions. Theauthor studied five widely-used painting techniques and pattern of manifestation in theillustrations of medicinal plants, which were plant science paintings, woodcuts, watercolors,colored pencils and digital technology. On the other hand, design points were understood in themedicinal plants books of different functions. For the books of medicinal plants of differentfunctions, literature study was carried out through book layout, format, color, graphics andgraphic structure proportion.Chapter four is the design practice report. According to the market research, literature basis,scheme based on planning project, creative process and research experience were elaborated.With diary of plants growth as the main line, nurturing process, conservation knowledge andsafe usage were described through combining pictures and words. Final work of this subjectpresented breeding process of series familiar medicinal plants in the form of a book. Not only could the reader read the book easily, but also gain some knowledge and fruits bred by himself,cultivate his mind at the same time. At the end of this chapter are summary of practices andshow of some finalized works.
