The SPT Effect Of Integration Mechanism In Motor Memory: The Influence Of Attention

At present, the analysis of the SPT advantage effect in motor memory is thecore issue of this field. The Scene Integration Theory has put forward that theintegration processing which was caused by operation is the key of the SPT advantageeffect from the view of the integration. The theory has supported by some empiricalstudies, but the interpretation of the integration process is not enough detailed, andthere is no research directly test the role of attention in the process of motor memory.This research will use the control task to further explore the effect of attention onintegrated processing of SPT effect in motor memory, and will base on the analysisof the relationship between the three kinds of integration to further discuss the effectof SPT integrated processing mechanism.Experiment1uses2attention level (high, low)×2encoding condition type (SPT,VT) between-subjects experiment design, measures the ARC scores and the verb cuedrecall score, and pays attention to the attention level how to influence the integrationwithin the project and between the project, and tries to explore the order of the twokinds of integration under the condition of motor encoding. The results show that thelevel of attention will not affect the integration within the project, and the SPTadvantage effect of the integration within item is stable. But the level of attention hasa great effect on the integration between items, if the attention resource is adequate,the motor encoding has the ability to promote the integration between phrases, but inthe lack of attention condition, the enactment can not promote the integration betweenthe phrases.Experiment2uses two encoding condition (SPT, VT)×two attention level (high,low) between-subjects experiment design, measures situational cued recall score andthe recognition score, and pays attention to the attention level how to influence the integration within the project and between the project and environment, and tries toexplore the order of the two kinds of integration under the condition of motorencoding. The results show that the level of attention will not affect the integrationwithin the item, and the SPT advantage effect of the integration within project isstable. But the level of attention has a great effect on the integration between projectand the environment, if the attention resource is adequate, the motor encoding has theability to promote the integration between phrases, but in the lack of attentioncondition, the enactment can not promote the integration between the project and theenvironment.In conclusion, this study supports The Scene Integration Theory and makesfurther enrichment on it. This study shows that the SPT superiority effect of theintegration within phrase is stable, and it is not affected by the level of attention, andthe integration within item under SPT is possibly earlier than the other two kinds ofintegration in the processing order. And they depend on adequate attention resources.
