The Translation Of Legal Texts From The Perspective Of Translation Aesthetics

Since the legal translation, especially the translation of legal texts became theresearch focus in the field of translation, many relevant research achievements havebeen made one after another, which heated up the tide of studying the translation oflegal texts. However, most of these researches were carried out from the perspectiveof the pure translation and linguistic theories. At present, with the unceasingintegration between different disciplines, many academic studies are no longerconfined to a single discipline, but are inclined to being carried out from themultidisciplinary perspective. Hence, further researches on the translation of legaltexts also need to be deepened and broadened from the multidisciplinary andmulti-level angles. Translation aesthetics, as the product of the integration oftranslation and aesthetics, has been widely applied in the literary translation and otherfields, and a lot of achievements have been made. However, at present, the expertshave seldom made the researches on the legal translation, especially on the translationof legal texts from the perspective of aesthetics. The legal texts are not short ofaesthetic elements, and the translation of legal texts should not exclude aestheticprinciples. In view of the above points, the thesis makes an attempt to study thetranslation of legal texts from the perspective of translation aesthetics, which is ofgreat significance in a certain meaning, whether in broadening the research scope oftranslation aesthetics, or in the deepening of the study depth of the legal translation.Based on the theoretical scheme of translation aesthetics, the thesis first studiesthe five aesthetic principles that can be applied to the translation of legal texts, that is,the beauty of accuracy, the beauty of logic, the beauty of standardization, the beautyof solemnity and the beauty of vagueness. Based on the researches on the aestheticelements of legal texts, the thesis puts forward several ways to achieve the beauty inthe translation of the legal texts from the perspective of the aesthetic subject, in whichseveral skills of beauty reproduction, such as the method of addition, omission, and soon, are emphasized.
