The research object of this paper is a group of adverbs in modern Chinese, theyall contain a common morpheme“Lian (连)”. Including the "Lian(连)","Yilian(一连)"," LianLian(连连)","Jielian(接连)"," Lianxu(连续)" five consecutiveadverbs. Because they contain the same morpheme“Lian (连)”, So they have a certainsimilarity in meaning. Because they have the difference in the number of syllables andword formation. So they have different semantic, function and rhythm. This papermainly from the semantic, syntactic analysis and comparison of the differencesbetween these five words interior.(一)Differences in continuous adverbs at the semantic level is mainly reflected inthe following four aspects:1. The difference of repetition and continuity;2. The difference of frequency and sustainablity;3. The difference of subjectivity and objectivity;4. The difference of semantic orientation.(二)Differences in continuous adverbs at the syntactic level is mainly reflected inthe following three aspects:1. The difference of co-occurrence with verb choice;2. The difference of co-occurrence and tense;3. The difference of co-occurrence with quantity structure.Difference is their value of existence. Only by understanding these differences,can use them properly. I hope that this paper to help foreigners to learn the knowledgeof continuous adverbs.
