Fan Jinyong is a buried pearl on the poetry in Jiangxi Province. The late Qing Dynasty appeared a batch of outstanding poets in Jiangxi. At that time, although Fan Jinyong was famous for painting, but his poetry was also excellent. However,because of the untimely style, he was unknown in a long time. The academic circles paid more attention to his painting and had very little research to his poetry. He was known when his poetry was edited into Poetry of Fan Jinyong and published in 2010 by Fanjian.Fan Jinyong’s works includes 4 volumes of Poetry of Xinxiangshi, 1 volume of Diemengci and 1 preface of himself. This article started from the Fan Jinyong’s identity as a poet, based on his poetry, combined with the historical background, to make a detailed analysis of his poetry, hope to study through the change of his life circumstances, in order to grasp the poetry ideological content and artistic achievements.The part of introduction briefly describes the reason of the selection of this article and the present situation of research about this topic. The text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter will discuss his family background and the experiences of officialdom and emotion, then analyze the personality characteristics.The second chapter is about the situation of his social intercourse combined with his poetry. The third chapter according to various aspects of his poetry, such as content,form, style, language,try to study his poetry, and analyze the interlinked relationship between his poetry and paintings. Finally, combined with the historical background,the artical explains the reasons why he was not famous. The end of this paper is about Fan Jinyong’s status on the poetry in Jiangxi and the inspiration to modern people.
