George Friedrich Handel was a great composer in the era of Baroque. He was born at Halle, in the central German. His father was a barber and even though when was a child, his talent is fantastic. Once upon on he studied law in school, but he withdraw from it after one year’s study and focused on the study of music. Handel composed a great mount of music works, including opera, oratorio, ode and cantata, orchestration, keyboard and chamber music. Among those masterpieces, the composition of oratorio was especially outstanding. Handle’s first oratorio is Esther, and Israel in Egypt, Saul, Jephthah were also his works. But among those oratorios, Messiah was the best one.This article focuses on the Harmony and Melody of the Chorus in Handle’s Oratorio Messiah, and pays a little attention on musical structure, sound, ratio and rhythm Considering the research on harmony, it will include the chord, the harmony progression and the transposition of the key. Considering the analysis on melody, it will focus on the figure, tone type and the tonic series. On the other hand, the article will also analysis the development of the motif, the combination of four parts, and some outstanding music phenomenon. The research includes twenty one choruses. Although The O thou that tellest good tidings is a combination of Alto aria and chorus, it also will also be one of these chorus.There are five parts in this article. The first part is the research background and another four parts are the main parts of the article. The second part is prediction and accomplishment and it has six pieces. There are two parts within the theme passion and victory because there are eleven chorus pieces in oratorio. The fifth part is resurrection and glory and there are four pieces in this part.
