The Application Of Aesthetic Theory In Technical English-Chinese Translation

English can be classified as literary English and technical English from the perspective of literary form. In contrast with the former, technical English focuses on reasoning. Therefore, people believe that its language must be precise and stereotyped, and that the style of writing of its translation must be very formal and obscure, and that the wording of that must lack literary grace. However, in fact, though technical English translation doesn?t need to be of striking literary grace like literary English translation, it also has its own aesthetic standard. Translation aesthetics provides a reliable and powerful theoretical guidance for it. Translation aesthetics means to use the basic principle of aesthetics, linguistics and culturology to explore the aesthetic issues of interlingual transfer in the course of translation. Mainly under the guidance of an Introduction to Translation and Aesthetics by Liu Miqing, this article explores how to achieve the unity of scientificity and artistry to the utmost in the translation of technical English.
